Announcing the 2022 Shonk Leadership School Details

Registration for the 2022 Shonk Leadership School is open, and there is a lot that goes into planning to attend!  Registration, travel arrangements, what to expect—there is a lot to know. Whether you are an undergraduate officer, member, or alumnus, we hope to provide some helpful information as you begin to register and make plans to attend. We have broken down a lot of information below.

The 2022 Shonk Leadership School Information

GENERAL INFORMATION

When is the 2022 Shonk Leadership School?

Leadership School will be held from Thursday, July 28 – to Sunday, July 31. Undergraduate attendees should plan to stay through the whole event. Alumni and guests will have a couple of different registration options if they choose to attend. 

What is the schedule for the 2022 Leadership School? 

Leadership School will begin on Thursday evening with an opening banquet with dinner provided and end late on Saturday evening with the closing awards banquet. Brothers should plan to arrive by 5:00 pm on Thursday evening. 

A more detailed schedule will be released to registered attendees at a later date and will be uploaded to the 2022 Leadership School web page.

2022 Shonk Leadership School will be held at the following hotel:

Who attends the 2022 Leadership School? 

Chapters are expected to send two delegates to the 2022 Leadership School. Other than that, there are no firm stipulations on who those two delegates are. Chapters are encouraged to consider who will best represent their chapter, who will be most interested in attending a national fraternity event, and who will be able to bring back what they learned at Leadership School to their chapter. To avoid confusion or last-minute switches, it is important that chapter leaders ensure that the chapter delegates are aware that they are attending Leadership School this summer, know what is expected of them, and do not have any other obligations that weekend.

How do I register for the 2022 Shonk Leadership School?

Registration should occur using the online form, which can be accessed by clicking HERE. Payment will be accepted during the online registration process.

What is the cost of the 2022 Leadership School?   

  • Registration: 
    • $400, if registered before May 15, 2022 
    • $425, if registered between May 15 – June 30, 2022 
    • $475, if registered between July 1 – July 25, 2022 
  • Cost to travel to Indianapolis, IN 
  • Hotel rooms for all brothers beginning Thursday, July 28 – Sunday, July 31 

For undergraduate brothers, it is suggested that these costs be covered in full, or in part, by the chapter. If a chapter has a Chapter Education Fund (CEF) with the Foundation, you may be able to utilize these funds to pay for Leadership School expenses. What costs does the $400 registration fee cover? 

This registration fee covers any meals provided during your time at Leadership School, event space rental fees, speaker fees and expenses, and other general event expenses. 

Can chapter advisers or other alumni volunteers attend the 2022 Leadership School? 

Any and all chapter advisers or other alumni volunteers who work with undergraduate chapters can attend Leadership School. Advisers/volunteers will be invited to attend sessions with undergraduate officers, as well as adviser/volunteer-focused programming. 

Registration Costs: 

  • Full Leadership School: 
    • $400, if registered before May 15, 2022 
    • $425, if registered between May 15 – June 30, 2022 
    • $475, if registered between July 1 – July 25, 2022 
  • Weekend Only (Friday Evening/All Day Saturday) 
    • $250, if registered before May 15, 2022 
    • $275, if registered between May 15 – June 30, 2022 
    • $325, if registered between July 1 – July 25, 2022 

Will there be a specific training track for chapter advisers? 

Chapter advisers and other alumni volunteers will be invited to attend sessions with undergraduate attendees. Additionally, there will be an opportunity for advisers and volunteers to network, get updates from staff and the fraternity, and share their thoughts. More details to come. Please note, that you will not need to register separately for this content. 

HOTEL & TRAVEL

Where is the 2022 Leadership School? 

Leadership School will be held at the following hotel:

Do I need to make travel arrangements? 

IHQ will NOT be making travel arrangements for undergraduate or alumni brothers attending Convention. Attendees should arrange travel to arrive by 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, and leave at any point on Sunday, July 31 if attending the entirety of the Convention. Alumni brothers who are attending only on specific days can arrange travel as their schedule allows. 

If you are flying in, Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is the best option. There is no shuttle to/from the airport and hotel, so attendees should plan to book an Uber/Lyft to the hotel after they land in Indianapolis. 

Hotel and Travel are not included in the registration fee; attendees are responsible for all rooming charges. 

The professional staff suggests that you plan your travel early. At this time, flights are limited, and fares will only increase over time, or you might not be able to find a flight.

The suggested arrival time is mid to late afternoon on Thursday, July 28. Please plan your departure for Sunday, July 31.

How does my undergraduate chapter apply for Chapter Awards? 

Award applications are currently live for chapter officers to complete. Applications are the responsibility of the President or Secretary and need to be finalized and submitted by Sunday, May 28 at 11:45 pmEST. For all of the information about chapter awards, click HERE!

How do I nominate my chapter adviser for the Outstanding Chapter Adviser award? 

Nomination forms for Outstanding Chapter Adviser are currently live for chapter officers to complete and are a separate application from the undergraduate chapter awards.  

Applications are the responsibility of the President or Secretary and need to be finalized and submitted by Sunday, May 28, 11:45 pmEST.

Attire: Coat and tie for banquets, business sessions, and Ritual Exemplification; business casual for Friday educational sessions; bbq at the International Headquarters.
