Phi Sig Adds Two New Staff Members

Phi Sigma Kappa International Headquarters is excited to welcome Brother Dave Hammons (Ball State ’16) and Brother Luke Coogan (Hope ’23) to professional staff!

INDIANAPOLIS – Phi Sigma Kappa International Headquarters is excited to welcome Brother Dave Hammons (Ball State ’16) and Brother Luke Coogan (Hope ’23) to our professional staff. Brother Hammons will serve as Associate Executive Director, while Coogan will be a Growth Specialist.

Brother Hammons returns to staff after a three-and-a-half-year stint at Marian University in Indianapolis, where he served in various roles. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Director of Career Development. In this position, Hammons coached students and alumni in career planning, exploration, and preparation. He also taught classes as an adjunct faculty member for two years.

Brother Hammons’ professional career began in 2016 as a Leadership Consultant at International Headquarters. He earned his graduate degree from Indiana State University where he studied Student Affairs and Higher Education.

As Associate Executive Director, Brother Hammons will oversee daily chapter operations and enterprise advancement programs through collaboration with the fraternity’s directors. He will also play a crucial role in planning all Phi Sigma Kappa national events.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brother Dave Hammons back to Phi Sigma Kappa as our Associate Executive Director,” Executive Director Brother Joe Kern (Radford ‘09) said. “His extensive experience in higher education and his previous roles on both campus and at the Headquarters level perfectly aligns with our strategic vision. We’re at a pivotal moment in our Fraternity’s history, with significant initiatives underway. Dave’s return adds another perspective to our already incredible Headquarters team.”

“It is awesome to be able to come back to an organization that I am not only a member of, but one I am familiar working with,” Brother Hammons. “I attribute a lot of my professional, relationship-building, and life skills to Phi Sig. I am excited to play a role in bettering the undergraduate experience for brothers across the country.”

Brother Coogan joins staff after graduating from Hope College with a bachelor’s degree in business. During his time as an undergraduate, Coogan was a Resident Assistant for two years. He also served as Tau Septaton’s Inductor and IFC Representative.

As a Growth Specialist, Brother Coogan will travel to chapters around the country and assist with recruitment. His first project will be the revitalization of the Xi Deuteron chapter at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

“Luke exemplified a lot of promise within the interview process as he quickly proved to be a highly motivated member that has the skill sets we were seeking, including a well-rounded collegiate experience as a Resident Assistant, a highly rated Insurance Agent Intern, and a leader within his local Tau Septaton chapter in Phi Sigma Kappa,” Director of Organizational Growth Lindsey Hollis (Delta Delta Delta) said.  “I look forward to supervising Luke and witnessing all that he will accomplish within this next year, as he works with expansion efforts and guiding active chapters who have previously struggled with recruitment.”

“I’m excited to start my professional career at Phi Sigma Kappa IHQ,” Brother Coogan said. “I look forward to the opportunity to learn and grow here and make a positive impact in my new role.”
